ABOUT LAURA

A little about LaurA

Laura Lehman is a TV host, reporter and producer with seven years of experience in the industry. She started in a newsroom setting in 2014, writing highlights for the hosts on Sportscentre. She is graduate of Ryerson University's Bachelor of Journalism program.

She currently works as on-air talent for NHL Network and is a familiar face on the sports desk at RogersTV. She is also the host and assistant director of Homestead City, a Lifestyle show, that airs nationwide on Bell FibeTV in association with Bell Media.

It all started when... "I started watching sports with my dad as a child. He had me memorizing dates, statistics and fun facts about athletes in grade school. Opening packs of O-Pee-Chee and Upper Deck trading cards was my favourite pass time," she laughs.

We would travel to NHL Drafts as a family for years. "That ignited my love of sports even more. I played every sport under the sun.  By the age of 12 I knew I wanted to work in sports. Write about sports. Talk to people about sports. Hear their stories. Live. Breathe. Sports."

Once I started working in the industry, I dropped all team sports and focused on triathlon training. "It was an individual sport I could train for whenever I could carve out a few hours. I just love it." Later this year, she will officially become an Ironman finisher. When she's not mic'd up, you can find her in a pool, on a bike, on a run path or coaching triathletes and an endurance swim team.

Laura has a variety of experience in the journalism field: from writing for local newspapers, magazines and websites to interviewing on radio and television. She has conducted numerous interviews ranging from famous athletes and coaches to musicians, established theatre directors, opera singers and actors. She loves producing and editing feature stories, interviewing, gathering news, taking photos, managing social media platforms and shooting b-roll.

Laura has been a valedictorian, host, and MC for a variety live events with audiences of over 30,000 people. She has been an on-air personality for national sports broadcasts and as a guest on multiple radio stations. She has been recognized with awards winning oral communications competitions at a variety of levels since 2004.
